Each serene painting contains fragility, resilience and elements of untamed freedom, as Parul navigates the outside world through introspection.
Parul comes to the painting table as a place to heal. In the quiet rhythm of water meeting paper, she finds a way to slow down, to feel what goes unspoken, and to let the work hold what words cannot
Her visual language grows from a lifelong relationship of visiting the ocean. The emotional experience from Parul’s first life-affirming snorkel over a thriving reef remains an enduring influence as she paints otherworldly underwater scenes, abstract landscapes and studies of the human form; using fluid watercolour strokes & delicate layers of translucent colour.
There is joy, awe and at times a sense of loss found in Parul’s relationship with the living world. Moments of light expose a sense that the connection to nature we covet as humans is a connection to ourselves. Through her work, she becomes aware in waves of realisation that we are nature.
Her work invites the viewer into spaces of both wonder and longing, using rich textures, dissolving motifs, and light in her compositions to remind us of our impermanence and distance from the living world. She is often aware of the duality of feeling that she belongs in her experiences; but at the same time can feel distance from her life.
